The following are a few of my favorite recent paintings.
If you click on a photo - you can see a slightly larger image.
Unfortunately, my paintings are rather large -
and I've never been able to photograph them well.
I have also included a very brief artist statement or description at the bottom of this page.
Thanks for stopping by.
cheers - Don

A good photo of this painting. This painting marked my first time working with clearly visible circular shapes. I really like the way they work with the colours and background textures.

This is an awful photo. This painting is actually rather large - and has many subtle colour and texture changes. Still one of my personal favorites. Just wish it could be photographed better.

A good photo - although too small. This is the largest of my current paintings - almost 6'tall.
Unlike other paintings in this series - I have created the texture with the paint.
For the others, the texture is applied first, and the colours then layered on top.

Another in this series of paintings which have very bright colours - very thick textures - and rather obvious circular shapes... typically I'd say there was too much going on - but in this case it seems to work together very well.
Recent Paintings - D. Cameron
After receiving a thoughtful email from Martie at Ken-Mar, I thought that I should probably post some information about myself and my artwork.
[ I sent some paintings for their upcoming silent auction - Nov. 2010]
I graduated in 1988 with a Bachelors Degree in Fine Art as a studio major in Painting and Printmaking.
For the past 20 years I have had the wonderful opportunity to teach art in High School. Last year my wife and I had an amazing adventure teaching at a University in Mexico. [2009] I was teaching in the Art and Design Department, while Judi was teaching English and French.
My paintings are what most people call 'Abstract' or 'Modern'.
The proper description would be Non-objective or possibly Conceptual.
- my goal is to create a atmosphere or mood with textures and colour harmonies....
There is usually a theme or idea in there someplace... but its mostly about the colour and textures.
I'd like to give a quick note of personal history - as it relates to my art....
After graduation in University, I began teaching art at the high school level -
and along with that - coaching teams - board committees and such....
and for about 10 - 12 years...
In 2002, I was involved in a very serious car accident -[a rather life changing experience!]
- about that same time - my brother opened a restaurant.
When we attended the opening for family - my brother had many of my old
paintings hanging on the walls! What a wonderful surprise - but many of them were awful.
So, perhaps out of pride - and as a courtesy to him,
and more importantly his patrons.... I began painting again -
Surprisingly, we sold quite of few of those paintings -
[although they were never advertised for sale.]
Unfortunately my brother had to give up the restaurant business... and I've lost my gallery...
The paintings that I sent to the Ken-Mar auction were once on display at his restaurant -
only I reworked each of them with new colours and textures this past summer...
- ah, the joys of working with acrylics on board!
